🛩 This Sunday at 19:00, we meet at Diveness for a night dive at the Sunken Aircraft RU-21A in Anavyssos [Beechcraft King Air A90 (RU-21A)]!!
🛩 Let’s take a look at some details about our dive spot:

📌 Located off the coast of Anavyssos Bay, at a depth of approximately 10 meters, lies the wreck of the RU-21A reconnaissance/photographic aircraft.
📌 The sandy seabed, scattered with Posidonia seagrass meadows, gives no hint of the aircraft’s presence—it becomes visible only when you get close.
📌 The front part of the fuselage, with its wings and wheels, lies almost intact but upside down, with visible hydraulic system piping and landing gear components.
📌 Observing more closely at the break between the front and tail sections, it’s evident that the aircraft did not crash at this location but was moved here, likely by a trawler’s net.
📌 This is supported by remnants of a thick trawler sack found tangled and torn in several spots on the wreck.
📌 A bit farther out lies one of the aircraft’s engines, in good condition, still bearing one of its protective covers, while various components are scattered nearby—such as a radio, a small power generator, auxiliary motors, and broken parts likely from the tail section, which is missing.
📌 The shallow depth and generally good visibility allow us to thoroughly explore the aircraft, more than once if we wish—just be careful with your buoyancy to avoid stirring up the thick layer of algae surrounding the wreck.
📌 Nature is slowly beginning the process of reclaiming the wreck, covering it with marine life.
📌 Caution is required when approaching and touching the wreck, especially around its edges, to avoid injury to yourself or damage to your equipment.
