On Thursday, August 6, we head to Douni Islet, a fascinating dive site that transforms after sunset into a completely new underwater environment, full of life, mystery and unforgettable moments.

Meeting Point & Time

Meeting Time: 7:30 PM

The meeting will take place at the DIVENESS Dive Center, where we will prepare our equipment before heading to the dive site together.

The Dive Site – Douni Islet

Located along the southern coast of Attica, Douni Islet is a small uninhabited rocky island that can even be reached on foot through the shallow waters connecting it to Agia Marina.

According to archaeologists, the islet was once connected to the mainland, forming part of an ancient settlement, much of which later sank beneath the sea.

Although small in size, Douni features numerous secluded coves, sandy and rocky beaches, lush vegetation at its centre and an underwater landscape that remains unknown to most visitors, making it one of the hidden treasures of the Athenian coastline.

The Dive

Our goal is not simply to admire the island from the surface, but to explore its hidden underwater beauty.

During the dive we will follow the impressive right-hand wall of the island and make our way towards its secluded sea cave, one of the most interesting features of the dive site.

Local residents often report sightings of the cave’s most famous “residents”: a beautiful Mediterranean monk seal and a large sea turtle. With a little luck, we may even have the opportunity to encounter them ourselves.

What We May Encounter

The underwater environment around Douni offers exceptional biodiversity and may include:

• Huge schools of sardines
• Salema
• Moray eels
• Octopus
• Cuttlefish
• Alicia mirabilis
• Giant sea snails
• and many other fascinating Mediterranean marine species.

The dive site combines sandy and rocky seabeds, sloping terrain, walls, small canyons and underwater cavities, creating an ideal environment for a memorable night dive.

• PADI Professional guide.
• Complete SCUBAPRO equipment set (for divers who do not have their own equipment).
• Transportation of diving equipment to and from the dive site.

• Optional daily DAN diving insurance (+€7)

None of the above services are mandatory.

Cancellation Policy

DIVENESS reserves the right to change the date or time of the activity, or to cancel the event if weather or sea conditions do not allow for a safe dive.

Refunds are issued only if the activity is cancelled by DIVENESS.
